And how are you going to change the narrative?

Everyone has one, known or unknown, conscious or unconscious, and this narrative controls all our actions, reactions or zero movements. Narratives such as, am not clever, wise, brave, confident enough, therefore, whatever the world offers you, receive it with both arms and thank god that you've been given something. Don't question, don't try harder as you know you’re not good enough, stay in your lane and do not shake or disturb anyone, after-all, they all have their problems and you bringing them yours means you'll only be interrupting them and waste their time.

The problem with these types of narratives or stories is that they never motivate us to challenge our thinking, and we stay in stagnant environments that we didn't want to be in, feeling helpless and despair, never attempting to challenge ourselves or “have ago” at anything new. This mentality makes us victims to our circumstances, and when we’re victims we cannot help ourselves and have no capacity to change, we have no power over our circumstances, we’re stuck!

And the truth is, these narratives aren't ours, we were born with a blank slate, ready for anyone to put in any information they wanted, this information would later shape our mental chatter. Some people call it monkey mind, this chatter would then live with us forever, going everywhere with us, whispering our failures “remember you cannot do this or that, because of you’re not clever enough”, it whispers in our time of distress, “I told you not to try that, because you’d fail, why did you do that? Next time listen to me and don't try anything new we have no reference of succession, or try again because last time you did that you failed”. Never remembering the few successes that we've had before, in anything that we could build on.

The truth is that we have the power, we can change, and eventually we have to take the bold road, to challenge our ideas of who we are and what we’re capable of, what we believed in, what path we are willing to go through to get to the desired result or change. And finally, what would people would say about us when we’re no longer what they said we were….

May you be changed by your awareness of your true power, power to change, power to transform your new story

With Love
